Happy #MusiciansDay

i make music as 'this occasional society'

the society is still refining it's sound, but it's broadly #instrumental #downtempo #electronic and has been described as 'filmic'.

if you want to check out a few tracks, the 'smplr' ep is free to anyone who asks on here and is a fair intro. mirlo.space/this-occasional-so

You can find more on Mirlo mirlo.space/this-occasional-so, Bandcamp thisoccasionalsociety.bandcamp and the t.o.s website -

It's time for another #MusicMonday, and this time we are changing genre a bit — even if the music remains atmospheric and dreamy. This week I would like to recommend Carbon Based Lifeforms, in particular their 2006 album World of Sleepers. Carbon Based Lifeforms create meticulously thought-through electronic music, which probably fits best under the label psychedelic ambient if we need to find a label for it. I like how this music is not soulless or straight boring as a lot of ambient can be, but at the same time not too intense to be in the background. It is like a painting that fits well enough in the room to not immediately draw intention, but at the same time is interesting and touching when you look at it.
I like several of their albums, but I think World of Sleepers is a great place to start to explore Carbon Based Lifeforms. I also think it is one of their more beat-forward releases, which I personally like. Also, I am a sucker for the cover art.
