No-one would have believed it if we posted this yesterday, so today we are announcing that Eclipse #Temurin 21 and 22 are available as a GA headless release on #RISCV! #openjdk #java
https://adoptium.net/en-GB/blog/2024/04/eclipse-temurin-21-and-22-available-on-riscv/
Thanks to @ludovic_dev and others at RISE for getting us here
You can also install it via the @jbangdev tool. Set JBANG_DEFAULT_JAVA_VERSION=21 first to get the GA version

Did you know that the sources of #AI software are protected by licenses like all the other software?
The
#FSFE’s Niharika Singhal explained the trend of using non-free #licenses in #ArtificialIntelligence projects in a talk at #FOSDEM2024!
Check it out
@olimex and you can watch the talk we had in the #RetroComputing devroom at #FOSDEM2024 :

FOSDEM 2024 stats:
There are **874** talks in the table, **630 (72%)** have slides, **819 (94%)** have videos.
My "SemVer in Rust" talk from @fosdem is now available as a blog post!
I used the "annotated talk" format pioneered by @simon to make it easy to skim the material, skip ahead, and jump between the written post and the video.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

The good part is that my recognized value with my #FOSS work, finally has hardened enough within me, that it keeps the self-doubt away. So when I get rejected from giving a conference talk about AI (as is what happened with #fosdem2024 ) or having my right to belong to something like #Nivenly constantly challenged, I can remind, nay, *prove* to myself that I am actually worth it, but the system has always been rigged against neurodivergent people from the start.
#COBOL, that obsolete language that's been supposed to "die in 5 years" for 65 years ? With over 800 billion lines of code (according to a Micro Focus study), it's like the Highlander of programming languages.
But, being a paragon of the closed model, there are #opensource projects to follow, such as the #GnuCOBOL compiler. Here is a presentation of the project at #FOSDEM2024 (@fosdem) by Fabrice LE FESSANT and Simon SOBISCH

At #FOSDEM #FOSDEM2024 there was a talk which suggested that @fedora wasn't doing much in the #reproducibleBuilds space. Here's Davide Cavalca talking at #Scale21x about why it's important and what the project is doing in the space ;-)

@nuccitheboss @kenvandine Great Q&A session!
I watched the live stream of @kenvandine 's Q&A session, was great, that he left near 30 min for Q&A.
When I gave this talk on #FOSDEM #FOSDEM2024 I got only a 25-min slot and they showed me the "still XX min" cards too late so that I did not have time for Q&A, only a hallway session afterwards.
On #GUADEC #GUADEC2024, if they accept my #UbuntuCoreDesktop talk, I will get a 40 min slot and I will give the same 25-min talk as I did on FOSDEM ...
At @fosdem I gave a talk on why SemVer in #rustlang is so hard, and how cargo-semver-checks can help.
An A/V glitch caused 10min of the recording to be lost, so I made an updated video
Here's a peek at what you'll learn in the talk
