It may be a pancake. It may neither have easy support for VR headsets nor guarantee you 60fps even if you get it to run through a VR headset. But it was there before all of you. It used the term #Metaverse many years before any one of you had even heard of it.

The #Hypergrid, the interconnection between #OpenSimulator grids, is 15 years old this year. And yes, #OpenSim is actually #decentralised like you wouldn't believe. Over 420 big and small public grids and over 8,000 privately-run, home-hosted grids based on #DreamGrid, over 95% of which are on the Hypergrid, say a lot, I guess.

Oh, and it needs no #blockchain, it needs no #cryptocurrency, and it needs no #NFTs. It runs on the same technology as #SecondLife (which celebrates its 20th birthday this year, as in it's still alive, too) while being fully #FreeLibreOpenSourceSoftware.

No Code Integrations

Integration is mostly about being everywhere and nowhere at once: interoperability without a clunky user interface or spaghetti code. Can we get no code or low code integrations?

DélawenNo Code IntegrationsOn this article we will explore how to do no code and low code integrations based on Apache Camel using Kaoto: the visual editor.

@Louis Ingenthron @Chris Trottier Look beyond your bubble of .NET devs who came over from the birbsite over the course of the last six months.

Look at those who have been here before the #TwitterMigration. Better yet, look at those who have been on #Friendica or #Hubzilla before Mastodon even existed. The Fediverse was much different back then.

People generally distrusted all of #GAFAM (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft). They used Linux whenever and wherever they possibly could. They avoided commercial, corporate-owned, proprietary, non-free, closed-source software like the plague.

Microsoft was actually considered the ultimate evil, also due to Steve Ballmer's attempted crusade of total annihilation against #FreeLibreOpenSourceSoftware, Linux first and foremost.

Devs coded in C, C++, PHP, Python etc., always either cross-platform and Linux-first or Linux-only, put their works under the GPL, the AGPL, the MIT license etc. and open-sourced them. They would never have touched C#, .NET or any other language that was owned by a big corporation and/or would have lead to Windows-only or Windows-first software with a 10-foot barge pole. And they never had to.

Some Fediverse projects actually moved their code repositories from GitHub to Framagit, Codeberg or another non-corporate, non-commercial Gitea-based hoster after Microsoft took over GitHub.

#Proprietary, #NonFree, #Commercial, #ClosedSource iPhone and (maybe) Android apps which secretly siphon all data they can and sell it to Google and Facebook without the user ever noticing, much less consenting to it.

This is particularly tempting on iOS where it's very difficult to offer #FreeLibreOpenSourceSoftware because the Apple App Store makes it almost impossible to comply with certain #FreeSoftware licenses, and other app sources are basically illegal AFAIK.

On Android, one could say that apps on the Google Play Store are either also available on F-Droid or closed-source spyware that secretly hands your private data over to Google and Facebook.
