I've been working very hard lately - including most evenings and some weekends - so I'm taking today off to do some gardening.
Cleared some weeds, cut down a couple of volunteer trees that were in a bad place, and dug some more drainage trenches.
This garden is big enough to keep me busy well into retirement, but it's nice to do a bit here and there.
Garden care is self care.
@theapplefarmer that sounds amazing!
I read up on soil health last year and am trying something similar this year myself, on a much muuuch smaller scale - in my container garden on my roof
I used to trash away prunings and fallen leaves every week - but starting this season ive decided to dry em, ground em up into tiny bits, and then incorporate them into my pots.
Hope it works
Meet our marsupial gardening crew. Every night, 30 - 100 pademelons and a few wallabies look after the lawns. They take care of mowing, edging and fertilising.
We don't see possums every night, but there's often 1 - 6 of them. They take care of eating all fruit from the fruit trees and destroying any part of the vegetable garden that isn't fully enclosed so it's lucky they're cute.
