And yes, whoever uses #discord for #documentation and #versioning instead of a goddam #git [doesn't have to be @github / #GitHub or @gitlab / #GitLab or @Codeberg / #Codeberg or even @gitea / #Gitea - just use any git and write down your documentation in a useable format like #Markdown or goddamn ASCII plain text FFS] should be banned for life from #coding, working in #IT or contribute to #FLOSS.

  • Because it's literally worse than people shitting "#Ai" #Slop all over the place cuz that can be fixed faster and easier by backrolling said commits and banning the offender!

Hi, I set up an Gitea server on my servers in the EU powered by my own solar power and I want to share it with you. You can upload your repository there or mirror it or help me to mirror major repos there. Feel free to use it as well for your projects.

On today's edition of #selfhosting #homelab , I installed #KitchenOwl to my server to replace the ad-infested cozi app my partner and I use for a synchronised grocery and recipe list app.

I also noticed that in the year or two I've been running this homelab, both #k3s and many of my docker images are getting dated.

Surprisingly, updating k3s was extremely seamless (especially since I documented the flags I used on install)

I then installed #renovate to go through my #gitea server and open PRs that notify me of docker image (bonus: and nuget package!) Updates on a cron job.

@j12t Despite its past friendliness to the open-source community, I’ve been hearing that #gitlab now has a stronger commercial focus.

While #activiypub doesn’t align with that revenue growth, AI integration does:

At #fosdem 2025, I heard many communities appreciate #forgejo and #codeberg as embodying what the open-source world had hoped to get from #gitlab and #gitea.

As far as I know, #forgejo is committed to implementing federation, which is already a feature in development:

GitNex 9.0.0 will bring major UI changes, including a switch from the drawer menu to a bottom navigation bar. It's still a work in progress, so things may change before the release hits the stores.

This version will also include support for markdown alerts.

Google stops using Pixel phones as reference devices for testing, device trees are missing from Android 16 source code release, making it harder for custom rom devs to port their roms to Pixel devices:

(Google doing their regular "boil the frog" thing... They started with giving Android app devs the option to block sideloading, then they announce to make the development process fully private, only push final releases to AOSP code base, and now this... We desperately need mobile Linux to become an Android replacement! (Although I don't really see that happening any time soon unfortunately.))

Mozilla shuts down the Orbit AI add-on for Firefox, replicates its functionality with built-in features:
