I know Vmware workstation v15.5+ should be able to run Vmware machines even with <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/hyperV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hyperV</span></a> enabled, and it can, but they are absolutely dog slow. like ... easily 5-10 times as slow as they'd otherwise be. I know I can just turn hyperV off and on or use WSL1 but toggling hyperV to my knowledge requires a reboot each time, and WSL1's filesystem IO is pretty horrendous as well. Alte XP VMs starten zwar noch, und tun so als wenn sie eine Netzwerkverbindung haben, aber jegliche Dienste sind NICHT mehr erreichbar und die XP VMs erreichen nix mehr im Netzwerk. <br>Lösung hat Microsoft aber mitgeliefert, man kann einen "Legacy Network Adapter" hinzufügen und dann laufen die Maschinen auch wieder.</p>

But I also have at least one customer with a VPN I can't get to work on Linux (Cisco AnyConnect), so I also need an internal virtual switch and then some <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/netns" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>netns</span></a> magic to us the right network.</p>
