Ontario Raising Minimum Wage to Support Workers

> TORONTO — The #Ontario government is increasing the #minimumwage from $17.20 to $17.60 an hour effective October 1, 2025, to support #workers and businesses. This annualized #wage #increase is based on the Ontario Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 2.4 per cent and will bring Ontario’s minimum wage to the second highest provincial rate in #Canada.

One investigation concluded that over 90 percent of carbon credits issued for #rainforest protection by the largest carbon credit certification body “had no benefit to the climate.” Two reports published in 2023 found that credits for forest-based projects in North America, South America, Africa and Asia may in fact #increase net #emissions.

Beim INCREASECSA Experiment bei dem es um den Anbau alter Bohnensorten geht, ist die industrielle Vergleichssorte MECCEARLY (die jeder Teilnehmer bekommt) quasi als Erste im Ziel.

Zweieinhalb Monate nach der Saat sind die Schoten reif und die Pflanze fängt an mit dem Welken.

Das heißt aber auch, daß es da keinen Nachschub mehr gibt. Die anderen Sorten lassen sich mehr Zeit und die Pflanzen sind viel größer.

Bild von reifen Bohnenschoten der Sorte MECCEARLY. Zusehen sind mehrere rot/gelbgrün gefleckte Schoten und drumherum das Blattwerk hier und da schon mit gelben Blättern. Beim Projekt INCREASECSA kriegt jeder diese Sorte als Vergleichsmaßstab.
Beet mit Busch- und Stangenbohnen. die an einem Drahtgestell hochwachsen.Dazwischen noch ein dunkelgrüner Cavolo neo oder Schwarzkohl . Im Hintergrund Gartenzaun und am rechten Rand ein Birnbaum.

BioMed CentralRecent increase in atypical presentations of invasive meningococcal disease in France - BMC Infectious DiseasesBackground Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) cases declined upon the implementation of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) (social distancing and mask wearing) to control the COVID-19 pandemic but rebounded in 2022 in numbers with genotypical changes of the strains. We explored here associated modifications in the clinical presentations of IMD. Methods We conducted a retrospective descriptive study using the Database of the French National Reference Centre for meningococci and Haemophilus influnezae for IMD cases between 2015 and 2022. We scored serogroups, sex, age groups, clinical presentations and clonal complexes of the corresponding patients and isolates. Findings Non-meningeal forms of IMD increased significantly upon easing of NPI, such as bacteremic meningococcal pneumonia and bacteremic abdominal forms. They represented 6% and 8% of all IMD forms and were significantly linked to serogroups Y and W respectively, to older adults for bacteremic pneumonia and to young adults for bacteremic abdominal presentations. These forms were significantly associated with more early mortality and clonal complexes 23, 11 and 9316. Interpretation The increase in atypical IMD forms may lead to higher burden of IMD due to delayed diagnosis and management. Updating prevention may be needed through by adapting the current vaccination strategies to epidemiological changes.
