My old Rescue 117 buddies flew over Helvick a few minutes ago and turned at just the right moment for a nice shot. Gorgeous machine, and I am eternally grateful that service exists after they lifted me off a mountain following a fall a few years ago.

Sea Cliff Rescue is one of the core competencies of the #irishcoastguard

Today we were exercising at Casana Rock in Howth.

This is a steep ground area we’ve undertaken many rescues and recoveries on before… 1/2 cont.

This afternoon, we were tasked to assist @gardainfo@twitter.com with a missing persons investigation.

Extensive searches were conducted with nothing found.

Exploring Howth sea caves by rope supported from the sea by our search & rescue boat.

Regular #irishcoastguard exercises in different areas help our team to familiarise with the different terrains.

Since this video was filmed we’ve done many rescues here.

This afternoon the team were paged to assist a person needing medical assistance on the cliff path.

Using one our off-road 4x4 jeeps we transported the patient to a near by car park and rendezvous with an ambulance saving the patient time and discomfort. #irishcoastguard

Volunteer #IrishCoastGuard units provide a Rescue Boat, Cliff Rescue, Shoreline Search & Emergency Community Support.

Development in the use of Drones provide units with enhanced search capability while helicopters provide 24/7 service.

Since 2014, service demand for our unit has increased by 100%.

Our #howth based SAR Tech’s now respond to over 140 calls a year. On average, that’s a callout every 2.6 days.
