@daniel @stalwartlabs thanks for sharing your experience !

do you think this could be an inspiration for what have now in my hands : a low-volume ( KISS - simple layout ) newsletter / mail batch sending from our own debian server ?

#jmap #mail JSON API s / protocol rocks

thanks again four your feedback

@ndw I've been a happy customer of #Fastmail (they're on Mastodon, too: @fastmail) since January 2018, and can comfortably recommend them if you're looking for a solid email host.
They're based in #Australia, and have full support for #IMAP, #CalDAV, #CardDAV, as-well as #JMAP if your tool(s) supports that. I like that they only do email and do it well. No ever-expanding product suite of tools I don't really need, nor any confusion on who the customer is. Nice and straight-forward :).

@juliank I think @daniel is still maintaining Lttrs for #Android.

codeberg.org/iNPUTmice/lttrs-a

But yeah, I think it was an 🐔 hen 🥚 egg problem: there was no broadly available server implementation for 📧 #jmap before @stalwartlabs so I guess the clients have more pressure now.

Codeberg.orglttrs-androidNo-frills, easy to use, easy to maintain Email client for Android based on the JSON Meta Application Protocol (JMAP).

@1password (and @zak might be interested too)
In blog.1password.com/making-mask it was mentioned how easy it is to integrate because of #JMAP, and somewhere in feature requests I saw preference for creating integrations using that rather than other APIs.
@stalwartlabs is one of few servers having JMAP, what are the chances of having an integration between the two?

@nekohayo @GerryT @stalwartlabs From scratch?
Use stalw.art, since they emerge (to this point(release) takes time), more than 2 years.

2019 was my second time at #FOSDEM, and I followed the #JMAP effort.
@fastmail CEO Bron had a lightning talk:
archive.fosdem.org/2019/schedu.
I was hooked—push, contacts, one protocol to rule them all

There are many vectors of 'open' beyond just code, like open protocols such as #JMAP.
Yet another #IMAP #email app?

@GerryT I wish I knew this earlier.
I discovered GTK a few months ago - great UI framework.
Now I think #gtk #libadwaita might actually bring #linux to #mobile.

Instead of just using it for my favorite IDE, I’m building a simple yet functional email app.
Usually, large lists and web views (still haven’t tried WebKitGTK) are the hardest.

#Android took more time.

Btw #email protocol is #JMAP, and the server is @stalwartlabs

Just tried building a test tool for Window.
Full-text search/offline support with JMAP.

Tried WinUI/UWP (in the past), former MFC dev.
Lost a week in Windows to see what would be easiest. Wow!!

As a last try,
Turns out GTK4 is compatible on Windows.
Old-fashioned API for newcomers, but sane for old devs.

Here’s what a test setup screen looks like on Windows.
