Before you draw and quarter me, please understand this is out of pure desperation/necessity. lol.

Our town only buys/sells things on Marketplace. I don’t want to keep bugging my spouse every time I need to sell something (which isn't very often thankfully) or want to look for some random used thing.

The final straw was having to sell our son's car now that he has moved away.

My punishment: even though I pinned a post on my FB profile saying I am only using it for Marketplace and won't be accepting any Friend requests and that everyone should definitely check out the Free and Open web at socialbc.ca… now I am getting friend requests and feel slightly guilty.

I don't want to confirm them, obviously, but also don't want to delete them because that seems rude.

God I hate how FB has monopolized this stuff!

On the bright side, someone is coming to buy the car today!

TL;DR: There's some amount of friction in the #marketplace that prevents #fraud **and** prevents a large amount of non-fraud. Somehow understanding and tuning for that is what can make or break a #business.

I just read #wiki to catch up on #Kickstarter, and there's definitely an optimal amount of how much of a #business platform you can move to the #blockchain, and it's exactly zero.

One of my #AWS customers was interested in moving their #RHEL workloads to Amazon Linux 2023. However, they are subject to industry hardening requirements. AWS has been decidedly un-neighborly when it comes to publishing security-automation content that's usable by third-party tools like oscap. I'd opened a support case asking about options. In the support case, I explicitly stated that the desire was to save money vice Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

At one point, the CSR had responded back suggesting the use of the #CIS image for al2023. Hadn't had time, till today, to investigate it, I'd simply assumed it wasn't going to be adequate. At any rate, went to launch an EC2 from the AMI and discovered my IAM role didn't have sufficient permissions to subscribe to one of the #MarketPlace AMIs. Put in a request with the customer to get authorization. Customer was quick to authorize. Went to subscribe to the AMI and, not only did the CIS image (now) come with an hourly-usage license fee, it also comes with a $500 annual subscription fee. Brix were nearly shat.

So, I "yelled" in the support case, "what part of 'customer was looking at al2023 because it was free' did you not understand??" I mean, I was only planning to fire up a CIS-hardened EC2 to do a suitability-audit. Probably would have accrued less than a half a day's pay-as-you-go hours. I'm not asking my customer to pay $500 for what ought to amount to less than 4hrs run-time.

I mean, their AMIs used to be free (or damned close to it). I get the desire/need to monetize, but I swear that CIS have lost their damned minds.

The Green Gate, Gdansk, Poland

It was built in the years 1564-1568 on the site of the older - mentioned in 1357 - the Kogi Gate. The authorship of the design is attributed to both the Dutch builder Master Regnier and Hans Kramer, who came from Dresden. Around 1573, a wing was added to the western elevation. The ground floor of the gate housed the city scales, while the wing housed the day and night city guards.

It was supposed to be a royal residence, but despite its beautiful interiors, no king ever lived there. As a consolation, the future wife of the king - Władysław IV - Maria Ludwika Gonzaga stopped here while passing through.

The gate was rebuilt - for the first time in the 19th century, when a third floor was added and the roof was redesigned. 50 years later, a fourth gate was built. After World War II, part of the building collapsed in a fire. The Green Gate was rebuilt in the 1950s, but it was not until 2002 that the interior was opened to visitors for the first time after the war.
