Even though it’s “MLS” and not “the MLS”

“MLS” doesn’t take an article, but “Cup” does, and in “the MLS Cup”, “the” grammatically refers to “Cup”, not to “MLS”

Saying “MLS Cup” without “the” is a hypercorrection

I’m on my way back from #IETF123 in Madrid.

I’ve been to a few #international #football/#soccer matches. It was interesting seeing an #mls team (#atlantaunited ) go full #vegasgoldenknights presentation. This makes me wish the #ufc would go back to this. Bonner/Griffin saved the promotion, not taking away the pomp. Come on #danawhite. Use that #TKO synergy.

If you’re going to spend $100 on a #soccer/#football kit, why not spend another $25 to customize it? I’m never going to financially recover from this.
