The Barrowland Park Album Pathway. Created by Artist Jim Lambe in 2014 to celebrate the role that the Barrowland Ballroom has played in Glasgow's musical history. Each 'album' on the path is dedicated to a gig by a specific act at the Barrowlands, ranging from Bob Dylan to Primal Scream, and including many iconic home-grown bands such as Simple Minds.

I painted my wagon - I abandoned all hope and I crossed the Rubicon

Here's another pamphlet that was in the same folder, a smaller handout for the same 100th anniversary event she played at.
In my research at YIVO I've been getting into the RG 123 collection which is just hundreds of folders from random old NY Jewish mutual aid societies. Was interested to see a woman drummer & bandleader which are both quite rare among all the old docs I've been looking at. Shirley Baron of Queens/ the Bronx.
40 years ago this week, "One More Night" by #PhilCollins reached the top spot, replacing "Can't Fight This Feeling" by #REOSpeedwagon after 3 weeks. This video is shot in the same bar and takes place after the video for "Sussudio", which climbed the charts a few months later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKVq-P3z5Vg #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

Red’s
A GLORIOUS MEDITATION ON BLUE, and on the blues, and on the centrality of the color, the mood, and the music to all of African and diaspora life, but particularly to Black life in the US. Elegant, eloquent, erudite, yet profoundly direct. SOLID A

They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you

heading back for another research appointment at the Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives today, looking at old musician's union (local 802) papers from 1922 onwards. (I was there 2 weeks ago but didn't remotely finish looking at stuff.) great at connecting dots in other parts of my research even though the detailed record only starts around 3 decades into the period of organized Jewish musician labor in New York..
it's about an earlier phase of his research, but the episode of Ottoman History Podcast with Ian was one of my faves:
"During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, hundreds of thousands of people from the Ottoman Empire and post-Ottoman states emigrated to the United States. Among them were musicians, singers, and artists who catered to the new diaspora communities that emerged in cities like New York and Boston."
