This gives you easy wins and keeps up the motivation. Good examples are backup and file synchronization services, calendar applications, navigation applications, chat applications for teams and project management software.

As more and more people are on the platform, it becomes increasingly difficult to leave without losing something that is of value to you due to #networkeffect.

A loud part of the Fediverse (majority or not 
) is afraid of federation with #threads. I disagree! For many organisations, this is a chance to escape the #networkeffect and improve #GDPR compliance. They can have a data-protection friendly presence in the #fediverse and still have followers who choose to have their accounts on #surveillanceCapitalism platforms. I hope that (a) Instagram accounts get also access to Fediverse content (b) they implement moving servers.

We need to force these systems, by muscular regulation if necessary, to allow anyone to walk away *and* keep on communicating seamlessly with their friends left inside.
High network effects, *and* low switching costs. We can do it!
