The 10GW data center deal between #Nvidia and #OpenAI seems even crazier when you put it into perspective. Czechia, home to 11 million people and an industrialized economy, has an average electricity consumption of 7 GW. The government subsidizes electromobility and encourages people to insulate their houses, yet it allows this. I hope the #AI bubble bursts before it causes real environmental damage.

This is from yesterday. OpenAI doesn't have the money for this - yet. But Nivdia's lateral moves should be taken in concert. Favored by the all-omnipotent-in-chief, Nvidia is spreading its wings. It's getting its hands in many pots, and its Intel investment will be a game-changer, if Intel even survives it. What would that leave you with?

#OpenAI and #Nvidia’s $100B AI plan will require power equal to 10 #nuclear reactors

By Benj Edwards, September 22, 2025

"On Monday, OpenAI and Nvidia jointly announced a letter of intent for a strategic partnership to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems for OpenAI's AI infrastructure, with Nvidia planning to invest up to $100 billion as the systems roll out. The companies said the first gigawatt of Nvidia systems will come online in the second half of 2026 using Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform.

"Everything starts with compute," said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, in the announcement. "Compute infrastructure will be the basis for the economy of the future, and we will utilize what we're building with NVIDIA to both create new AI breakthroughs and empower people and businesses with them at scale.""

#NVIDIA "is currently carrying the weight of US economic growth. [NVIDIA spending currently approximates contribution from consumer spending, which formerly was 70% of the economy.] The bad news is that in order for the tech cycle to continue contributing to GDP growth, capital investment needs to remain parabolic. This is highly unlikely.”

#Nvidia is paying to prop up one of its biggest and most prominent customers. Providing #OpenAl with cash that in turn makes a roundtrip back to Nvidia to purchase chips. Rather than reflecting booming demand, this Nvidia-OpenAl pact underscores the industry's incestuous and circular nature, whereby big tech companies participate in endless rounds of fundraising at ever-increasing valuations.

When the #AI #Bubble breaks, damage to the economies of America and the World will be great.
