How dangerous is health #misinformation in Canada? | #CMA cma.ca/healthcare-for-real/how “many lack access to a #familyphysician, so instead they go online with their questions. What they’re seeing there can lead them astray. Poor access to health care led 37% of Canadians to act on #online medical advice, and 31% admitted choosing it over advice from a medical professional. Among those groups, 23% experienced #negativehealthoutcomes from following online medical advice.”

I want to see them *prove* it was #Luigi.

I'm #blind, but my kid that served in the #Army says Luigi does *not* look like the man in the #video. I've also seen people #online saying that.

I have a #jury summons for later this week. I've been an alternate in the past.I was also part of a pool that couldn't seat a jury. That time, it was a #criminal case, and the defense attorney said something that I will always remember.

The gis is that when a defendant gets off on a technicality, that is a euphemism for the prosecution not being able to make the case without violating the defendant's #rights.

That's really important. The #Constitution is not a technicality. It is what protects us from #Government overreach.

Here's my first contribution to the #30DayChartChallenge 2025. Horrifying statistics about misinformation! But also hot tips to cope!

Four in five of us (adults in Australia) reckon: "The spread of misinformation on social media needs to be addressed."

And that "People need to be taught how to identify misinformation."

So we're starting there! This is the SIFT method:

S: Stop. Don't read a post until you know where the info is coming from. And stop if you're overwhelmed.

I: Investigate the source. Maybe hover over their social media profile. See what Wikipedia says.

F: Find better coverage. Before sharing, check if other websites (reputable ones) say the same thing.

T: Trace claims, quotes, and media to the original context. Check the date. Try reverse image search to see where pics came from. Read full quotes, not just ragebait headlines.
