But I put seven years of my life into that project, so I really appreciate the acknowledgement.</p><p>One of the yak shaving steps in the process was negotiating what I believe was the NZ Government's first <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> software development contract in 2002. The government lawyers fought tooth and nail against it, but we got it over the line in the end.</p>
