Linux adoption in Europe has skyrocketed this month! For the first time ever, it went from ~4.50% to 6.15%, even higher than in the US' 5.25% (according to StatCounter). I think more and more people want to move to a less "controlled" OS.

EDIT: The move has been completed! https://codeberg.org/NerdNextDoor/arikoto
I have an update about the #Arikoto #OS codebase.
I am planning to move Arikoto from #GitHub to #Codeberg at some point. (Possibly along with some other projects)
I hopefully plan to do this by the end of 2025, no promises.
Please boost this post so others know about the move.
For me, it's when I open a CVS file with a simple text editor. The file is just database field names and numeric values. Decimal numbers.
The text editor has been changed by an #OS upgrade to now include an #AI menu that offers to make the text more inspirational.
How?
These are numbers.
It's just a page of numbers.
We are stuck in an abusive and weird and insulting relationship with technology, and our bad position is just getting worse.
Are there attempts being made to create opensource OSes for "smart" TVs ? Something like graphene ? An initial search yielded nothing interest.
I tried so damn hard to find a dumb one but could not :(
Debian 13 is out: https://www.debian.org/News/2025/20250809
I've been using Debian as my main OS both on servers and desktops for over 20 years now. It's one of the very rare things in this world that has stayed consistently good throughout all those years.
#Arikoto NOW HAS USERSPACE SUPPORT AFTER 3 OR SO MONTHS!!!
This is a HUGE step for the project and I'm glad to have gotten here.
In fact, during this I also noticed that we didn't have proper preemptive scheduling (the shell was keeping the entire kernel scheduling system alive, I have no clue why or how I did that but I did) so I fixed it!
As always, you can find it and try it out on #GitHub here:

100% of reviewers have rated Visual DOS 2024 Tech Preview 5 stars.
No, I will not tell you it's only been 2 reviews, that's irrelevant. Visual DOS Tech Preview is a 5-star Operating System
What made you try Linux for the first time?
Was it the thrill of freedom, the escape from Big Tech, or just plain curiosity?

Anyone have any info on what caused the two leadership departures at #android #calyxos? 6 months of no updates sounds like a nail in the coffin for the #os distro. It has been removed from https://FullStackOpenSource.com

I've been using #Linux on and off for the last 10 years. Had times when I was on Linux for years at the time, and times when I used Windows.
It's astonishing for me how in a span of just a couple of years I went from being excited about my laptop getting the #Windows 11 upgrade to absolutely despising every second I have to use it for.
Back then every Windows news was a blessing. Now they're just new annoyed grunts...
