Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (15/2025): Boot your phone from USB
Not pleased with #Fedora KDE #PlasmaMobile on my StarLite. It’s fairly slow, Bluetooth wouldn’t connect easily, and screen locking broke.
The screen locked after 5 minutes but it said the Lock Screen was broken. I had to Ctrl-Alt-F3 into a text terminal and loginctl unlock-session 2. What if I didn’t have a keyboard connected?
Later the Lock Screen worked but it demanded a PIN. I never set a PIN. Thankfully it accepted my password typed on my keyboard.
Let’s see if #Phosh on Debian works.

The linux desktop fight, which I actually thought had come to an end ;)
I used linux since #kde 1.1, allmost 30 years, and KDE most of that time, all though I did try Gnome and some other window managers from time to time. Countless Linux distros.
I have phone running #postmarketos with #plasmamobile, not really usable yet, though slowly improving. My best bid for a google/ios free mobile os usable in a foreseeable future would be #lineageos based, probably like #e_OS, with a not-google-run app store. Such a system would need a business model and economics to run, it does cost money.
My daily phone (#fairphone fp 3 with /e/os) is running quite well, but there is a long way for a setup that is usable by the masses, and the monopolists are bullies, like their unfortunate president.
We need to join forces :)
anybody got #vdirsyncer running on their #pinephone with #plasmamobile I'd love to try but I am quite stupid.
Just a reminder about the meetup in Christchurch, New Zealand on February 26.
The topic is Linux Mobile and I (Dan) will bring 4 devices:
#OnePlus6
- OS: #postmarketOS | Environment: #plasmamobile
#PinephonePro
- OS: postmarketOS | Environment: #gnomemobile
- OS on SD card: #Mobian | Environment: #phosh
#Pinephone (braveheart + upgraded motherboard)
- OS: #Archlinux | Environment: #sxmo
Pinephone (braveheart)
- OS/Environment: #UbuntuTouch

So a fun little #PlasmaMobile bug I found that may or may not have been patched (my postmarketOS install isn't up to date), the status bar time isn't always the system time. I know this because I ran my status bar on it and at each minute I calculate how long since the last minute to know when I need to get the current time next so it's always accurate to the system time (except for leap seconds). This was verified by checking the time stamp on a screenshot and it was correct to mine.

Xiaomi to będą świetne, niedrogie linuksfony :) Do #Reinstall i #Reuse. Bardzo łatwo też się naprawiają (kilka już zrobiłem) i wymiana baterii czy wyświetlacza jest prosta i niedroga.
Kiedy rok linuksa na telefonach? #PlasmaMobile wymiata :)
The dates for the first meeting have been set.
As already mentioned, it will be about Linux Mobile.
If you want to see a specific software, let me know and I will install it.
Some more details here:

Have a good weekend.
#FediPomoc
#pumoku progress:
* Lots of UI polishing
* finishing screen improvements
* hints and stats seems to appear at some point :p
* Progress indication, in digit keys and global
* Landscape orientation support (in progress)
* Nice icon
* ... and more
Pumoku is a #plasmamobile #sudoku app, for #linuxphones (and other mobile devices), not yet released but maybe in a not so distant future?
Does anybody know how I can switch from #plasmamobile to #phosh on #postmarketOS?
Just installing postmarketos-ui-phosh somehow didn't work, I think I need to do some more stuff. The login greeter is still the one from KDE Plasma.
Do I have to change some config?
Or enable / add some service?
Or rc-update something?
Please help me!
Another installment of my it's-definitely-monthly-please-don't-look-at-the-publish-dates devlog! There's some more taskswitcher work and my phone broke making me a linux mobile daily driver, at least for a bit. https://lprod.dev/blog/monthly_2025_01.html

Logical pencilmark errors in #PuMoKu :D
(A logical pencilmark error is that a pencilmark is set for a digit that is present in either of the cells houses.)
The entire cell is highlighted, so you are still required to look around and figure out which mark causes the error. Displaying the error in the culprit pencilmark only is easy to do - do you think I should make that possible, or even default for displaying such errors?
I designed this (I think) nice congratulation widget for PuMoKu. As you may guess, it is meant to pop up when a game is solved only. It will not obey though, for reasons I do not understand, as copied the code from the #kirigami wizzards :\
The idea is that it does not cover the board, so that you can have a look before moving on. Hopefully, I will get along with #qtquick, #qml at kirigami at some point ...
postmarketOS 24.12 released based on Alpine Linux 3.21 with GNOME Shell on Mobile 46, KDE Plasma Mobile 6.2.4, Phosh 0.43.1, Sxmo 1.17.0, doas instead of sudo
Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (51/2024): Apps and other Updates
How about a nice #soduko game for #plasmamobile, nice with #kirigami ui, using your plasma theme? It is of course very much in prototyping stage, everything is qml - no backend - but it is actually possible to play it even there are no checking - let alone fanphares - if you finsh a game ... :-)
Next step is adding support for pencilmarks, which is likey tricky.
I'm fully focused on mobile behavior, but it can of course be made to work nicely in desktop as well ...
I do photograph portraits, albeit not very often. During my testing of #plasmamobile I looked for some images to view, among which this portrait, captured back in 2020. I'd love to take portraits more often! If you are in Denmark (or there about) and need a portrait, please come by ;)
