“This brand is bigger than any one person and bigger than what I’m able to lead on my own. It’s a movement. And it deserves a team with the scale, experience, and infrastructure to realize its potential.‍"

What successful international conglomerate is being discussed here? It is, of course, Fyre Festival.

Felon founder Billy McFarland announced today that he's officially canceled the second edition of the festival, which was due to take place next month in Mexico, and is also selling the name. “We have decided the best way to accomplish our goals is to sell the Fyre Festival brand, including its trademarks, IP, digital assets, media reach, and cultural capital - to an operator that can fully realize its vision," he said in a statement on the official website. "There is a clear path for operators and entrepreneurs with strong domain expertise to build Fyre into a global force in entertainment, media, fashion, CPG, and more.” Here's more from @Independent

We don't have any info on how much MacFarland hopes to get for his brand, but we'll be sure to keep you posted, in case you're interested in investing.

You might not know the name Allee Willis, but you know her work: She co-wrote the "Friends" theme tune "I'll Be There For You," "September" and "Boogie Wonderland," by Earth Wind and Fire, and the Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance." The last of these even led to her being declared the world's most dangerous woman by the Russian newspaper Pravda. "She's damn near written half my memories," Questlove said of her. And that's before we even mention her Broadway triumphs, design work for MTV and Blondie, and invention of the Metaverse. Here's @Salon's review of a new Hulu documentary, "The World According to Allee Willis," which tells the inspiring story of her phenomenal talent and creative life. Willis died in 2019; minutes into the film’s opening, she is on screen saying, “I’ve always known that my final art piece would be someone putting together the trail I’ve left behind.”

Michael De Luca on giving Ryan Coogler the rights to ‘Sinners’ after 25 years: “Ryan himself went on the record saying he was going to get it from somebody else, and he made a pretty effective case for this movie, especially with its themes of Black ownership” inbella.com/1013054/michael-de #PopCulture #SeriousGossips #TV&Movies🎬🍿

“Iconic Mary rocking on the guitar while stepping into a ray of sun” (a bit long for a real title 😅).

The sharp lines and strong contrast suggest stencils were used for quick application. The bold and readable style seems typical for art meant to stand out in public spaces. 🎸

The image blends religious elements 👑😇✝️ with rock culture. 🤘🎸😎That contrast gives it a rebellious tone. It likely questions who we see as icons or saints. Street art like this often makes bold cultural or social statements. 😎

Happy Superman day. 87 years today since the characters of Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, made their very first appearance in Action Comics #1, on April 18, 1938 (going by publication date vs. cover date).

"...it’s impossible to make sense of the extraordinary power held by right-wing podcasters in American politics or understand the meaning of Hollywood’s “unwokening” without recognizing that slop—content shaped by data, optimized for clicks, intellectually bereft, and emotionally sterile—has been overwhelming Hollywood’s cultural impact and destroying its business model, not to mention countless careers along with it, for years." #popculture
