Feathery friends!
Yesterday, April 27th was apparently „International Crow and Raven Appreciation Day“ so here's my jackdaw greeting card, who is part of a small bird series* and part of a much bigger bird poster / puzzle** ^__^

In recognition of Raven (Corvids) Appreciation day: Raven with fishhead.

Today is also International Crow and Raven Appreciation Day and I for one, appreciate the corvids. They are extraordinarily intelligent birds! Here is my murder of crows, part of my #termsOfVenery series of collective nouns for animals series of prints.
The raven is the official bird of the Yukon, in my print with the official flora, fireweed.
Lastly my crow print, inspired by a photo my husband took.

Not sure about this one, but I really liked how man and bird seemed to be similar in posture and looking in the same direction.
What do you think?
This is funny, I took a photo of a raven’s nest this morning, hidden in new dense tree foliage and the iOS photos app somehow detected it. I guess a lot of people take these kinds of shots.
RAVEN FOLLIES
It’s been months since the ravens have come around, but finally last week the big raven returned and helped herself to four peanuts from the rock fountain.
Since then, she’s come around a few times to drink water from the granite birdbath that’s set into the base of the rock fountain.
Today I went out to get nose-drunk on the lilac perfume. I love the smell of lilacs and the bush is thick with blossoms this year. Then I wandered over to see how much water was in the pond and whether there were any more larvae to deal with. There weren’t.
That’s when I noticed something gross-looking in the granite birdbath. When I looked closer, I saw it was a large chunk of disgustingly soggy bread. Last year, the raven would often bring bread around to dunk into this birdbath.
The granite was way overdue for cleaning, so I dumped out the whole mess and went to work scrubbing the layer of algae or whatever it is off the rock. Randy came out when I was done and refreshed the water in that bowl and the large standing birdbath.
I was inside putting the cleaner and scrub brush away when I looked out the glass door and saw Randy frozen in place on the deck. He had frozen because the raven had come back and was on the fountain, even though he was standing there.
The raven walked around the rocks, confused and clearly saying “Where is my bread?!! I left it RIGHT HERE.”
When the raven took off, Randy was going to put some peanuts out for it, hoping it would come back, but a moment later we saw the raven land on a neighbor’s roof and retrieve a dinner roll from the gutter. She must have stashed it there earlier.
A short time later, she came back around for a drink from the birdbath, but happily didn’t dunk any bread in it.
I wonder where she’s getting dinner rolls from and hope there isn’t some stupid person in the neighborhood leaving bread out for the birds. Our refined breads are bad for birds of any kind as it lacks the nutrition that birds need.
The Canada geese also had some kind of a fit this morning. They made a tremendous racket and a pair of them got on our nearest neighbor’s roof and carried on with more honking. Something sure got them worked up and a pissed off Canada goose is a LOUD goose.
Malware is a model designed to correct other malfunctioning robots. He was intended to infect and commandeer their operating systems, and ultimately force a fresh reinstall.
But Malware finds these units to be delightfully unique rather than broken. Instead of hacking into buggy bots to change them, he acts as a sort of guardian, identifying and patching their vulnerabilities so they can secretly carry on as they are. Some systems may indeed wind up prey to Malware's viruses, however - databases tracking buggy bots go offline now and then, and suspicion is growing around whether this model is functioning as intended.
This sticker sheet and the corresponding pin design are still available in the Short Circuit pre-order store - you can still get in on the initial fulfillment until surveys and the store close!

I feel a real affinity for ravens. Probably because I've always been a big Poe fan. Regardless, this guy/gal visited my office yesterday. The pic is taken through 2 glass doors with a zoom, so sorry it's kinda fuzzy.
What have you gotten yourself into, Raven?
