udo m. rader has moved<p>One of the things I love about <a href="https://noc.social/tags/MikroTik" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MikroTik</span></a> devices is their longevity.</p><p>While looking for a simple VLAN capable switch in the office, I stumbled across a 10yo+ <a href="https://noc.social/tags/RouterBoard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RouterBoard</span></a> RB750 powered by an Atheros AR7240 CPU, 32MB of RAM, and with 5x100MBit Ethernet ports.</p><p>It didn't meet my reqs, but I was still curious enough to take a look and successfully upgraded it from <a href="https://noc.social/tags/RouterOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RouterOS</span></a> v4.9 from 2010 to the latest v7.6 within minutes.</p><p>You can only dream of that with other professional networking devices 😀</p>
