A cracking sunny evening for Wednesday running with the Coxhoe on the run group. Mostly easy with a couple of pacy bits through the fields and back up to the village hall. Full sunshine and warm, great company, escape from the nonsense that starts gripping politics in Durham.

I had planned a run around Durham this morning but the car was unwilling. After waking the neighbours with the alarm and then it failing to start I opted for a run around an old favourite route.
Down to shincliffe hall then back along the Wear to butterby farm steps. I was aiming for 4:45/km and kept that pretty well until the steps.
A grey morning but beautiful running weather. After a shower the car started so the replacement shopping will continue.

My HRV is starting to go up again this past week (from the teens to the twenties), and my mood seems to be improving, we shall how long this lasts. Waiting on IgE shoot approval from insurance, and still have a plethora of appointments ahead of me for #longcovid and ruling out complications almost 6 months in. Lumbar puncture is in my future too. Blah, I had a great time running today, and work, family, and friends to keep me going!

Med City 5k. Chip time: 24:02.

Really happy with this race from yesterday evening. About a minute faster than my last 5k race earlier this year. I placed 32nd out of over 400 entrants. 11th in age group. I'm getting pretty close to my times from 15 years ago when last I was fit and healthy. Also, this was a certified course with chip timing. So out of all the races I've done this year and last, this is the first with genuine 5k results.

This race was part of the Med City Marathon series. 2 day event. Last night was the 5k and expo. This morning is the marathon, 20 miler and half marathon along with the relay events. A LOT of people I've met at the local run club are racing across the various events so I'm looking forward to following along and seeing all their results on RaceRecord Strava in the coming hours.

Whomever yelled "Go Marc" at 2.5 miles, thanks! I failed to engage my brain fast enough to register who it was. So sound off in the comments if that was you! | Strava

And what an adventure Snowdonia Ultra was.
I know it would be a tough race but didn't expect it to be this brutal.
After the 2th climb of mount Snowden all the juice in my legs was gone and I wasn't able to make the cutoff time for aid station #2.
Buddy Bas had to throw the towel a little after aid station #2.
But my wife still found us "medal worthy" so we got one from here 😘😘.

Sunday easy run with coxhoe on the run. Heading down to the old quarry near Bishop Middleham then back along the track along the A1. Colder weather with a strong breeze and grey, I was under dressed but warmed up out of the wind. A fun chat with some heavier discussion on life for some of our kids in a world that seems to be heading backwards.
Heading out this afternoon spreadsheet in hand for further car shopping... I hate shopping and see a car as a necessary pain what a combination.

Viikon viimeinen juoksu! Tuntui, että tämä viikko olisi ollut yhtä perseellään istumista, mutta näyttihän noita juoksukilometrejä kertyvän 43,84.

Uudet kengätkin kantoivat tuon 15 km lenkin, joskin kyllä ne edelleen jäykältä tuntuuvat. Toivottavasti löystyvät ajan myötä.

Nyt voikin rentoilla loppupäivän. Suunnitelmissa on käydä herkuttelemassa nepalilaisessa ravintolassa 🤤

Today's run and RAAAD includes a public health warning.

We had a labyrinth of beautiful forests trails, glorious muddy toes, sun at last, trees, uphill on very rocky tails, downhills on bedrock, mixed with hikers, mountain bikers, fortress/prison with a grim history and a great view over Pamplona, which turned into 7km of good fun.

As I stopped to take a snap of the great view, we got overtaken by a couple of fellow trail runners. Paddy the Irish mutt, saw this as "let's run together" and took off at high speed. We managed to catch up and keep up for about 400-500m before they turned off the trail we were running. Speed was kept up because of Today Run An Album A Day was Yello and their absolutely brilliant and sublime album Flag (Remastered*).

Note the * there above, see when you have already started out a bit too hard to the tune that is Tied Up, climed steep section while Blazing Saddles is blasting, you therefore don't need The Race to be the next on the playlist followed by Tied up in Red etc. And since this is the Remastered version there's a 13 min long 12" of The Race, which I highly recommend not to be playing while driving, cycling or running. If the short LP version blows your legs and lungs, there's no way you would do these activities slowly while the 12" is playing.

Since we are still here tomorrow, I think I'll do it all again, as these trails are great fun.

Uudet kengät kulki ihan kivasti! En uskaltanut tehdä koeajolla kovin pitää lenkkiä, mutta juoksin sen sijaan vähän rivakammin ☺️

Kun kulkee kaiken muun ajan paljasjalkakengillä, uudet juoksukengät tuntuvat aina aivan järkyttäviltä möhkäleiltä. Ja niiden ostaminen on ihan painajaismaista, koska oikein mikään ei tunnu hyvältä. Kaikki on aina liikaa.

Yksi selkeä ero vanhoihin juoksukenkiin verrattuna on se, että näissä tuntuma maahan katoaa ihan täysin. Siihen on syynä paitsi suunnittelutrendi, niin myös se, että vanhat kengät olivat niin loppuun ajetut. Minun on edelleen vaikea ymmärtää, miksi juoksukengistä tehdään tällaisia 🤯

Mutta jospa nämä tästä jalkaan asettuisivat ☺️

A slower #parkrun for me this morning, but it felt ok. I'm not pushing anything these days.

Made it round in 35:30, might have dated better if I hadn't stayed up late the night before. I had a real sense of *heaviness* on the last lap that made it harder to keep running. That could just be the tiredness and the fact that I was still full of last night's pizza and beer...
