#NorthernTraverse recovery continues slowly. I have new issues that I have not had before, like strange pins and needles pains in my feet that come and go, and a couple of decent blisters. Knees are a bit grumpy still but on the whole I’m in remarkably good shape so should be easing myself back into training in the next two weeks ready for the Hampshire Hoppit marathon in June. But first, I’ll be there cheering on my wife in the Mortimer trail 10k next weekend #trailrunning #running
Post-run barefoot shoes update 2: the tightness got worse yesterday and now I'm rating it at 5/10.
I will skip #running today, and do a strength and mobility session instead.
#silentsunday #Running passer des bords de Loire à de la vallée c’est compliqué (10m ~> 240m de dénivelé). Mais c’est joli.Moitié marchant moitié courant en montée, courant avec retenue en descente !
It was pretty fun working the aid station this morning at Inside Trail's Woodside Crossover race. The sun came out around the same time the first runners arrived, and we were able to get everyone in and out as quickly as they wanted to.
Didn't run out of anything, even though it seemed like everyone wanted watermelon. Then a little more watermelon.
And best of all, no injuries and no one missed the cutoff!
Spectacular running this morning, starting with a moon set in the mist and Venus bright and high. I got to my trail run turn around for sunrise, and had close encounters with four wallabies. Run no. 11 of 2025

A long run is the elixir which keeps mind and emotions working properly. Well, more properly than without!
This morning in dazzling light among bursting leaves and wide open flowers I toured the area of Forestville and Vine Hill.
I did it. 42.2Km, a full marathon. It was so hard, I still can’t describe it. First 28K were great. I was in the flow state, and barely remember it. But my knees started throbbing and my feet felt heavy after 30K, and it was a slog of speed walking and slow jogging to still try to make the 5hr race cutoff. In the end I was close enough and was able to log my finish and get my medal. I’m glad I did it, but my body’s just not built for this. Still so proud of the effort! #running #goals
Managed a 10k #run today. It has snowed over 10 cm during the morning and most of the paths were not yet cleaned. Pace was slow and running was harder than usual.
We tested the gaiters I bought earlier. Worked nice, socks were not soaking wet when we hit home.
Afterwards sauna, tortillas. Later we went to the hill with grandchildren and sleds so I got some 40 mins of good hill training also.
-1°C a bit windy at times too so felt colder.
5km @ 2% incline in 33:30 #running
Not maximum effort, but I don't think hitting goal was a possibility today.
“there are only two ways to increase cadence: shrink or go faster”
“Think of cadence as a barometer, not a governor. It’s a useful thing to monitor, but you can’t be prescriptive with it, because everyone’s mechanics are different”
What Is #Running Cadence and How Does It Affect Performance?
Here’s exactly what you need to know about this metric https://www.runnersworld.com/training/a64422354/why-cadence-matters-for-running/
“some economists are starting to suggest stocking up on a number of goods ahead of any potential tariff-induced price hikes. In addition to the tech sector … coffee, electronics, and #shoes are all predicted to see significant price increases. #Running #shoes, specifically, have manufacturing origins in places such as Vietnam and Indonesia"
"we could see the trickle-down effect on pricing as early as the next 1-2 months” https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a64443207/running-shoes-china-tariff-price-increase/
