I'm slightly surprised the offender didn't get a whole life order in this case (3 #murders using an illegally obtained #firearm) even though he was young, but he will remain in #prison for longer than I am likely to be alive!

I still think there's an anomaly with #sentencing for #murder in #England / #Wales - those who target people known to them seem to get get shorter #sentences than those who attack strangers

I have waited until the #Court case and sentencing was finished before commenting on this (a legal requirement, you can get in a whole heap of trouble for not complying with it), but throughout I had suspected the defendant had a previous history of fighting and violence (disclosed in #sentencing, its not always disclosed to the jury during the case), as well as long term #alcohol and #drugs use (which can lead to impulsive behaviour) #crime #Darlington #murder

Alright, I'm going to retreat into writing and research for the next several hours. Hanging onto every word of the SCOTUS TikTok hearing will likely drive me into further despair. And I have no faith there either. I'm utterly appalled by the sentencing. Yes. It was expected. But now that the cowardice has been consummated, it stings with the pain of someone throwing acid onto your face. We do not have a functioning justice system when the rich and powerful elude consequences.
