Coprolite9000 - PixelfedBonus bug: Birch shieldbug, Elasmostethus interstinctus?<br> <br> (Spotted on a shrub practically underneath a birch tree, appropriately enough.)<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/Derbyshire?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Derbyshire</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/insects?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#insects</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/shieldbugs?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#shieldbugs</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/macrophotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#macrophotography</a>
Coprolite9000 - PixelfedLadybird voyeurism (blimey!)
Coprolite9000 - PixelfedThere's a shieldbug (likely a nymph of the Common Green Shieldbug, Palomena prasina) been sat on the same blade of grass since Saturday at the latest. Except - not any more! New home - a nettle leaf! About 10cm from that curved blade of grass...<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/Derbyshire?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Derbyshire</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/insects?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#insects</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/shieldbugs?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#shieldbugs</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/macrophotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#macrophotography</a>

Coprolite9000 - PixelfedBugs! Including an actual bug - a shieldbug that's been on the same blade of grass for the last three days. Also, a Volucella pellucens hoverfly on a buddleia; a tiny little beetle and another, smaller hoverfly on a crocosmia.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/Derbyshire?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Derbyshire</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/insects?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#insects</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/shieldbugs?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#shieldbugs</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/hoverflies?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#hoverflies</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/beetles?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#beetles</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/discover/tags/macrophotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#macrophotography</a>
Sarah🌳<p>Post rain garden pics. My phone camera hates me. Only 2 were even close to being in focus. <a href="https://mas.to/tags/moths" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>moths</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/shieldbugs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>shieldbugs</span></a></p>

Here are four of the most exciting insect sightings we had while I was on my fedi break (and thank you @lemondisco for letting me post your photos):

1. Tansy Beetle (Chrysolina graminis): We'd previously seen just one tansy beetle ever, but on the day this photo was taken we saw six! Tansy heaven 💚

2. Rosemary Beetle (Chrysolina americana): I've wanted to see one of these for a while, as I really like their maroon-and-green striped colouring. There were tons of these on the rosemary plants in the herb garden at York Cemetery.

3. Hairy Shield Bug eggs (Dolycoris baccarum): We've had the adult bugs in our garden for a while, but getting to see the eggs is a real treat, especially since these are on a plant right next to our front door. Can't wait to see them hatch!

4. Woundwort Shield Bug (Stagonomus venustissimus): new to us, and so pretty! These are so small I actually thought it was an instar of a different species, not an adult. A tiny cutie :blobaww:
