Lawrence Pritchard Waterhouse<p>I recently had a quick discussing with <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://toot.kif.rocks/@ruhrscholz" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ruhrscholz</span></a></span> regarding the political views of those behind the <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/suckless" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>suckless</span></a> project (<a href="https://ioc.exchange/@lpwaterhouse/112643144344927693" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ioc.exchange/@lpwaterhouse/112</span><span class="invisible">643144344927693</span></a>). In it I was personally convinced that <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/fascist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fascist</span></a> ideas were held by at least some of its contributors, but the evidence was somewhat muddy (Dead links in <a href="https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1113738764797534208.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">threadreaderapp.com/thread/111</span><span class="invisible">3738764797534208.html</span></a>, chatlogs *about* them <a href="http://9front.org/press/harmful.neocities.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">http://</span><span class="ellipsis">9front.org/press/harmful.neoci</span><span class="invisible">ties.org/</span></a>, people with potentially very poor taste in naming <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/bitreich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bitreich</span></a> <a href="https://suckless.org/people/20h/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">suckless.org/people/20h/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>), so I didn't publicly call the entire project out (yet).</p><p>Well, today was a slow day and I started digging a bit myself. Note that this is not proof in any legal sense, but merely another coincidence.</p><p>Suckless has a German legal entity, the Suckless e.V., to manage finances, etc. It is currently chaired by Laslo Hunhold (who also wrote the <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/farbfeld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>farbfeld</span></a> spec and seems to go by "FRIGN"). His personal homepage laslo.hunhold.de shares a domain with that of Rainer Hunhold (not to be confused with German actor Rainer Hunold) rainer.hunhold.de who is *abundantly* obviously part of the German equivalent of the Alt-Right (Anti-"woke", "Missstaende", etc. are well-known talking points, and the page is nothing but these). Since both use their full names as their very domain I saw no point in redacting them.</p><p>Now, I cannot speculate as to the relationship between these two, but I'd still call this a second case of very poor taste, this time in public association.</p><p>In conclusion I *strongly* encourage anyone against associating with the suckless project. Too many coincidences in my opinion. You might also want to replace some of the following with less... "encumbered" alternatives... These are just the most popular I am aware of: <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/dwm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dwm</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/st" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>st</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/surf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>surf</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/farbfeld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>farbfeld</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/quark" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>quark</span></a></p><p>Oh, and in an unrelated note: <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/fucknazis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fucknazis</span></a></p>
