I don't mind crowing about things I have been correct about. I'ma say it again, the curve is flat at the top. Models can be improved, until they can't. Now we are at the point in #AI history where there are only MORE models, new ways of connecting them, and maybe the MOST IMPORTANT: new ways to make them more energy efficient. The major social concern should be job disruption, and #Waymo is going to be your first mass evidence of that. #superintelligence just hit wall.

OMG Geoffrey Hinton (one of the godfathers of AI and nobel price winner for it) thinks about LLMs like I do: they are not the stochastical parrots some claim they are but they learn and think much like we do, which we fail to want to accept in our human exceptionalist view. Very interesting.

I think someone may have told him about the futurist manifesto at some point, and he just sort of liked the general vibe, which is why he paraphrases a part of it. I really believe that when you get as rich as some of these guys are, you can just do things that seem like thinking and no one is really going to correct you or tell you things you don’t want to hear. "Mark Zuckerberg notified Meta staff today to introduce them to the new superintelligence team. The memo, which WIRED obtained, lists names and bios for the recently hired employees, many of whom came from rival AI firms like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.

Over the past few months, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been on a recruiting frenzy to poach some of the most sought-after talent in AI. The social media giant has invested $14.3 billion in Scale AI and hired Alexandr Wang, its CEO, to run Meta’s Superintelligence Labs. News of the memo was first reported by Bloomberg.

“We’re going to call our overall organization Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). This includes all of our foundations, product, and FAIR teams, as well as a new lab focused on developing the next generation of our models,” Zuckerberg wrote in the memo on Monday. Meta declined to comment."
