I’m not a good photographer but this was a calming moment for me so I tried to capture it.
#SilentSunday #Swan
Swan doing what it's evolved the long neck for - eating plants from the bottom of the lake, where other grazers can't reach. If the neck is still too short, it tilts the whole body forward for extend its reach.
A coot is admiring the nice tail from the distance.
A lone #Whooper #swan on the #reservoir at #Stoneyford this morning. I’m guessing it’s a #cygnet that’s been left behind by the migrating flock.
I live vaguely near a canal. On one side is a dirt path. On the other side is a single lane road. Swans live in the canal. Every year a swan builds their nest on the small green tuft between the canal and the road. Every year someone puts up a fence guarding the swan and their nest.
I love that someone does this.

Eigentlich wollte ich das Foto für den nächsten #Silentsunday nutzen, aber es passte einfach so gut für diesen Beitrag.
Back to #KnightPolygons (polygons formed by (2,1)-moves), here is a pair of tilings I did back c. 2020, using a knight polygon I dub the "Swan".
Surprising swan photo from our drive through Kensington Metropark yesterday. My goodness but they're big this year!
April 6, 2025. Kensington Metropark, Milford, Michigan.
I re-edited this photo to have a closer crop. I think it works better like this...
