Thinking about future jobs and where to go, and I think #ThirdSector is really my best option for achieving good things that make a difference.

Not all third sector bodies are created equally for sure, but I think where I currently work has a heart and soul.

There's also a charity near my home with a heart and soul of a different kind.

This is where the two parts of my Mastodon handle (Coding Gardener) fit together. It's a nice dichotomy with balance.

If you're self-employed, freelance or in the third sector, obviously there's no #TradeUnion for you, right?

My #union, Community, has a broad mix of people employed in traditional and new industries, as well as #freelance, #SelfEmployed and #ThirdSector workers who want the security and support that only being a part of a union can bring. #MayDay

💭 ‘…charity acts as a “moral safety valve” that “normalises destitution and legitimates personal generosity as a response to major social and economic dislocation”.’

I know week notes are the typical format, but I’ve never been able to get into the habit. So instead, I’ve written year notes: a reflection on and round-up of my work in 2022.

The big takeways? I found my niche, walked an interesting line between content and service design, learnt to trust the process but reject the binary, and got a whole new perspective on my work when I accessed charity services myself.
