At some point, the #Thunderbird search function became really slow and started missing results. Aargh.

Using #linux, what is a modern email app? I'm trying #thunderbird, but it feels like Outlook from a decade ago, and isn't comparable to modern Outlook - is there something better these days?

@thunderbird When I have the 'Message Body As' setting set to 'Plain Text', some emails show attachments correctly, while others don't show attachments unless I change the setting to 'Simple HTML'...

Why is that?

I want to follow everything via ActivityPub/Fedi. For everything else, there's RSS.

I have the handy #Thunderbird user agent add-on installed, which is how I noticed that an invoice recently emailed to me was apparently sent from a Windows 2000 machine.

I hope this is just some legacy user agent and these emails aren't actually being sent from a Windows 2000 relic.

Got an update of #thunderbird It immediately nudges me to donate and appeals to bad consciousness because only 3% of the users donate.

A quick search reveals: The donations go to a commercial company in the US with no strings attached and the process asks for lots of personal data.

I concluded: No wonder only 3% donate and decided myself to join the 97%

Benutzer von Outlook müssen wirklich seeehr geduldig sein.

Meiner Meinung nach einer der miesesten #EMail-Clients (aber leider der beste #Groupware-Client) und dann noch die ständigen #Cloud-Zwänge, das Abschnorcheln der Passwörter durch #Microsoft (iOS/Android/neues #Outlook), quasi optimiert als Einfallstor für #Phishing und #Malware und dann noch solche Kleinigkeiten:

Leute, ich frage mich ernsthaft, warum die Menschen nicht scharenweise zu zumindest #Thunderbird wechseln, wo man fast alle Outlook-Nachteile mit einem Schlag verliert. Auch bei Benutzung via #Exchange.

After a week or two with #Radicale, accessing it from #Linux (#Thunderbird), #Android (#Davx5, Fossify Calendar), and #iPadOS (the toughest one to configure), I'm satisfied with it. This replaces my previous usage of #Nextcloud as my cloud-based #Calendar
