#discord IS LITERALLY THE PROBLEM!

I'm shure fecking #dread has better moderation and I'd rather use #MicrosoftTeams + #Slack cuz those at least have proper #moderation tools.

  • And I'd rather subscribe to the #LKML and see my inbox getting hosed than using any shitty #SaaS!

Case in point: I'd rather #SelfHost all my comms infrastructure than to ever use something like Discord or any other #GDPR-violating SaaS that is just enshittification.

I'd rather recommend people to instead choose a tool that does everything but horrible to go with multiple smaller & good tools

Check @alternativeto and @european_alternatives for options.

I could really use a voice chat testing service I can call to check that my hardware, OS and app is working properly. Ensuring I can hear and be heard. Ideally one that works with any Free Code chat app, native or web.

Anyone know of anything like that?

If there isn't one, anyone keen to help create one?

FYI to folks who use Discord.

There is a new(ish) Beta feature called "Clips" that allows your voice chat audio to be recorded when someone else is recording streaming Clips while voice chat is active.

However, it's on by default. You need to opt out to turn off said setting.

Here's a screencap so you can see the setting, this is from the browser version of Discord.

For more context, here's Discord's summary about Clips: support.discord.com/hc/en-us/a

"Sean DuBois... wrote a proof-of-concept called sfu-to-sfu to demonstrate the viability of decentralised heterogenous cascading SFUs, as detailed in MSC3898. This would not only let calls on a single focus scale beyond hundreds of users, but also share the conferencing out across all the participating foci, providing the world’s first heterogeneous decentralised video conferencing."

Is it though? What about @Jami and #tox protocol?

@KalleWirsch neben #Nextcloud / @nextcloud mit @CollaboraOffice / #CollaboraOffice gibt's noch #OpenXchange...

Ansonsten einfach mal @CCC & co. fragen was die nutzen...
