The War Memorial Cottage in Gartcosh just to the east of Glasgow. Designed by Gavin Lennox, it was built as a memorial nurses home, and features two plaques listing the names of local residents who died in World War I (on the left hand gate pillar) and World War II (on the right hand one).

This happened on the 18th of August 1941. At that time it was very clear that the Nazis were the bad guys.

A fallen petal on the Gorbals Rose Garden War Memorial commemorating Private James Stokes who was born in Hutchesontown in Glasgow and died in Kervenheim in Germany in 1945 while serving with the King's Shropshire Light Infantry. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery in single-handedly storming a number of enemy positions.
