This is a very long thread, reporting on a hearing for Rümeysa Öztürk, the college student who was snatched by ICE on video.

I understand only some of it. What’s important here is that there’s a glimmer of hope. The ACLU is fighting for her, and the judge is listening. That’s monumental in the fight against fascism.

Humanitarian Parole is one of the legal programs allowing people to stay in the U.S. legally, but this immigration attorney was not in that program. She was born here.

"Again, DHS is terminating your parole. Do not attempt to remain in the United States - the federal government will find you. Please depart the United States immediately," the email read.

It's worth remembering that #Nazism and #fascism flourished in Europe (and beyond!) based in no small part on existing prejudices, #antisemitism being the big one, but also seething #transphobia and #ableism.

The same is true today, possibly with #xenophobia subbed for antisemitism, but the other prejudices are alive and well in our society, and there are LOADS of antisemitic Zionist fascists, so don't let that fool you.

The point is, bigoted societies are fertile ground for fascism.
