@CastlebridgeChief
Sorry to see @rtenews today @morningireland running with the disaster-movie headline from The Times. See @matthewclifford for what he actually said.

@CastlebridgeChief
#Twitter is so much easier to use than #mastodon to search for #news .
Unless people were careful to sprinkle the magic # in front of every reference to #Matthew #Clifford, #AI, #TheTimesUK
I have no way of knowing if anyone else here is talking about that.

If groups are like hashtags, ie interesting topics defined in advance, it's no help to me to find random transient topical items that nobody has yet thought to tag or make into a group?
On Twitter I can search for Matthew Clifford and AI and find this week's news items about him. Not here.
News, like newspapers , will be wrapping chips tomorrow and have no further permanence unless someone thinks it noteworthy enough.

@ExcelAnalytics

Part of the reason it's harder to search on here is to reduce toxicity, as abusers tend to use the search feature to find victims. I'm not saying people who use full text search are bullies etc, just that the feature is exploited by bullies etc.

Some servers take a different view on this issue and do implement full text search (where results don't require tagging).

All servers on here are independent, and the software is free and open so they can alter it if they want to.

If you use
#Calckey you can use #Antennas which is similar to a list but for keywords instead of simple # and can exclude keywords you don't want to see.
