We honour the victims of that terrible war and those who resisted tyranny – then and now. The graves of the fallen stretch across our land – silent reminders of the price paid for freedom.

This is not a time to glorify war. It is a time to remember the price of peace, the value of freedom – and the danger of forgetting.
