"Today, I spoke with US President Donald Trump twice. First, before his conversation with the Russian leader, and then together with European leaders. Now is a crucial time for the world to see if its leaders can ensure peace.
2/8
I reiterated to President Trump that Ukraine is ready for a full and unconditional ceasefire. It's important not to dilute this proposal. If Russia isn't ready to stop the killing, stronger sanctions are necessary.
3/8
Ukraine is ready for direct talks with Russia in any format that yields results. We are considering all possible platforms, including Turkey, the Vatican, and Switzerland. We need Russia to be equally ready for effective negotiations.
4/8
Together with European leaders, we discussed further steps, including meetings between negotiators and an objective assessment of proposals. It's important for the US not to distance itself from the negotiations and peace.
5/8
If Russia does not stop the killings, release prisoners, or set unrealistic conditions, it means they are prolonging the war. Russia deserves to be treated accordingly by Europe, America, and the rest of the world.
6/8
Russia must end the war it started, and it can start doing so any day now. Ukraine is always ready for peace. Thank you all for supporting this approach.
7/8
We need to ensure that Russia is equally ready for effective negotiations. Every proposal on the table deserves an honest look, and that is why both American and European representatives should be involved.
8/8
It is very important for all of us that the United States does not distance itself from the negotiations and peace, because the only one who is interested in this is Putin. Thank you all for supporting this approach."
