When Black people abused by cops, do manage to win a settlement against the police, the department pays for that out of their fund. They fill that fund with a combination of tax revenue, tickets and fines. They get the tax revenue by defunding things like schools. They get the ticket and fine revenue by abusing Black folk even harder. So you win nothing.
Anyway, thank you to all the cable TV subscribers that are about to pay Fox's $787 million dollar settlement! Whether you watch Fox or not!
These systems are beautifully self-perpetuating! They resist change, because we push on the wrong leverage points.
I sometimes hear people complain that when they sum up all their streaming apps' monthly subscription fees, it almost equals their old cable TV subscription fee. In my mind, it's still very different. Because I'm paying for what I want to pay for, and not paying for what I don't want to pay for.

Exactly. I'm old and grumpy and moving to getting a region free DVD player because then I can watch DVDs from anywhere and I'll have a DVD at the end of it.
Cutting that cable is probably not relevant to most Internet types here. What advice do you have for their parents? 
If you have no cable bill then you're already not giving them your money which is a great start.
I'd say in general, support the things you like, and don't support the things you don't. Sounds simple and obvious, but when done across all of us, it can be incredibly powerful. Much more powerful than we think.
