Didn't actually realise that the #StarTrek subreddits of /r/StarTrek & /r/DaystromInstitute had a #Lemmy community @ https://lemmy.world/c/startrek@startrek.website @startrek.
Given Trek fandom are often the first colonizers of online spaces in internet history (eg newsgroups) losing major Star Trek communities is big L for Reddit.
EDIT: Not permamently locked subreddits, got that wrong I think!
@startrek Now I just have to figure out how Lemmy groups work from the point of view of using Mastodon.
@actsukrit Interesting, thanks! will see how it goes, I work a lot of shift work when my regular feed of mostly people in Ireland are not active so having a fuller feed isn't necessarily bad.
Have made a Lemmy a/c with the same usernname and my subscription is pending to @startrek so either way will get some content hopefully.
@Lamhfada @actsukrit @startrek it’s not true that you can’t start a new thread/post from mastodon.
Here’s an example of someone who just started a lemmy post by tooting on mastodon: https://startrek.website/post/230420
By @ ing the community in your original post you made a post in the Lemmy community - hello from Lemmy!
@julianh oops! Don't want to spam or overwhelm is there a link I can see/delete that from do you know?
Lol I’m sure it’s fine, it’s just one post. Idk if there’s a way to remove it from Lemmy, maybe editing the post to remove the @ but that’s just a guess.
Oh … I should have replied here … I wrote a demo on mastodon of doing so.
I posted a link etc elsewhere in this thread here: lemmy.ml/comment/1107157
From what I can tell, those subreddits participated in the blackout, but neither are “permanently locked”.
Interesting to see though that r/startrek’s header says “now at startrek.site”
@freamon Ok, I must have picked that up wrong in my excitement!
I don't want to go to reddit, but does it really say startrek.site
? That's not a real domain.
https://startrek.website/
Don’t forget /c/Risa! We’re here too! And we have Jamaharon!
The reddit mods would not allow you to say which things about Star Trek or which episodes you did not like. It was ridiculous. Thanks for letting me know so I know not to add them to my mix of star trek groups.
@btaf45 Sounds like it's best for everyone if you stay away!
Sounds like mods there are toxic. Not best for vast majority of people who want to know which Trek is good and which Trek is not so good.
Gotta ask. I have this same account name on lemmy.world and on startrek.website. Will that be a problem? I've just been logging into both, the startrek.website posts seem to take a long time to get to lemmy.world, so I just log in here if I want to read this stuff.
