At the junction of Phibsboro Road at Connaught Street:
Me: "Hi, that refuse truck is parked in the yellow box of the junction."
Garda: "Well, it looks like he's loading up."
Me: "What?"
Garda: "He's loading."
Me: "Is that a legal exemption?"
Garda: "He has to load somewhere."
Me: "There's literally anywhere around this area that isn't on the yellow box."
(1/2)
Garda: "He'd obstruct the bus lane."
Me: "He *is* obstructing the bus lane. [gesturing at multiple double-deckers stuck]. And the junction."
Garda: "Have you had a word with him?"
Me: "Of all of us here, I'm literally the person whose job that isn't."
Garda 2: "I'll have a word with him."
Me: "Thank you."
JESUS WEPT.

Post-script: There's literally a bajillion Gardaí around that location, due to a match in #Dalymount, presumably brought in for crowd control and traffic management reasons.
Careful what you wish for. If you had that conversation with a cop in America you could be shot.
@TenPastTwo I would never wish to have that or any conversation in the United States.
