Excuse me, wtf?
"An Garda Síochána is considering bringing the thousands of hours of CCTV gathered during the investigation into the riots to another jurisdiction, to use facial recognition technology (FRT) there, to enable them to identify suspects for looting, rioting and violent assaults during the riots."

@clickhere What database are they using for the reference images?
@faduda @clickhere what database would have the images they need? Public Services Card, drivers licence and passport.
@briand @clickhere Maybe.
Or since they're going overseas, wouldn't surprise me if this was using social media images scraped by Palantir and Clearview.
But I'm sure it's perfectly legal.
@faduda @clickhere there would be need to be an assessment of exporting and processing data elsewhere. My guess is that the PSC would be ripe as the database. The gov want to cut of benefits to the rioters so they have already completed assumed that they are unemployed citizens on the dole. Which you need a PSC card for.
This is a list of Things That Are Illegal...
@faduda I've been wondering the same thing. Also what FRT is used by the other jurisdiction, and how is it trained?
@clickhere @faduda In the US it seems to be trained badly, leading to the wrongful arrests of non white people.
Butlerian Jihad cannot start soon enough

@Sharr0w @clickhere @faduda I am not sure that law enforcement considers that an error. I’m sure to many police forces it’s working _exactly_ the way they want it.
@karlstanley @clickhere @faduda up cos the bias and racisim are baked in.
@clickhere Is that even legal?
