I'm really glad our server, #SocialCoop, enabled Mastodon 4.0's translation feature. I'm now following a few non-English accounts and it's super-seamless.
I actually prefer it to Twitter's, in which I can't translate from the timeline view, only from individual tweets (web UI).
If your server doesn't have it enabled yet, might be worth considering! And if it does - go follow some non-English accounts and give it a try :)
@eloquence This is such a major feature I can’t believe you can’t use it unless you have ssh access to your server (so I can’t use it on @mastohost, for example). Exposing the config setting in the web interface would go a long way to not making Mastodon a second-class citizen on managed hosting and incentivising more, small instances.

@aral All you need is to send me your API key for DeepL or LibreTranslate and I can add it to your env variables.
Not the same as having it in the Mastodon administration section but you can have translation even if you are using my service.
Also, I can add an option on Masto.host web interface to change automate this process. For now it's just manual but some instances have already sent me their API keys and it's working great.
@mastodonie @dregin useful for all the non Irish speakers!
(Also verification still not working).
@darrylxxx :)
Regarding the verification not working, looking at the page on your profile it could be related to https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/15316
@mastohost @mastodonie @dregin that looks very like it, thanks! The page is overly large. I'll try reduce it and try again.
