One of the things I'd like to do here is #network because, along with some decent as-it-happens #news and #currentaffairs debate, #twitter was always good for #networking . Can #mastodon do the same thing? Not so far. I've only got about 12 #followers . How do I get more #traction here. As you can #see, I am not good at #taking #hashtags #all #that #seriously...
@lucyweirphd if you want people to follow you who don't already know you from Twitter, you'll need to post frequently on topics that interest you (ok, larded with hashtags) to give people something follow.
Obvs this is an addition to your social media channels, Twitter is not going away. All the topics I follow are there.
@lucyweirphd Mastodon is all about the hashtags. I spent a lot of time at the beginning searching for keywords with hashtags attached, then following the the hash tag, and interacting with the followers. After 5 Twitter accounts it was a hard lesson to learn but here I am with over 500 folks following me since November 2022 and a heck of a lot more than that engaging with my posts. I wish you luck, and hashtag away!
