Taking steps to move at least a bit of the way from #autism self-diagnosis to actual diagnosis
The reasons ‘why now’ are complex but at the very least it gives extra confidence and removes even a trace of imposter syndrome when I have a need to set down a health boundary in some area of life
@CJohnston
Yeah, I've been there.
I self diagnosed about 7 years ago. Went to my GP about 4 years ago still a bit unsure but I figured I'd get on the waiting list & I always had the option of backing out later.
I was diagnosed in March this year. The imposter syndrome never really goes away but I'm a lot more accepting of myself now & feel like I can say no to things I'd find difficult more (I'm a people pleaser).
I wish you well in your journey.
@MrsH Thanks for the kind words, great to hear you were able to get a diagnosis and that it has been helpful for you. As we both know it seems over years and years it becomes harder to keep on ‘a mask’ so it’s good to have a diagnosis in hand I’m sure.
Thanks again.
