Welcome to Mary Lavin Place!
Ireland has so many unsung women heroes and this is a nice way to remember them, invoking our curiosity and keeping their work and memories alive. I'd like to see more placenames and landmarks named after them in Dublin and beyond!
@HazelChu I'd love the statue of Constance Markievicz and her dog Poppet moved up to the corner where Rathmines Library is - that was her stamping ground; she lived up the road and often cycled around that corner with her Fianna boys
@sinabhfuil or maybe another statue of her, with her bicycle!
@HazelChu Yes! (And Poppet!)
@HazelChu The irony of naming part of an IPUT real estate scheme after a woman who so publically advocated against the development of Fitzwilton Place offices on the site during her lifetime. Seems like she would have hated every bit of it. https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/books/writer-s-mews-mary-lavin-s-informal-literary-salon-in-lad-lane-1.4516097 #MaryLavin #IPUT
