So it's been 1 week on Mastodon for me. Things I've learned so far:
Do an #introduction post, fill it with hashtags of interests.
Have something in your bio so people can read about you
Follow (& unfollow) liberally
#boost makes posts more visible to others, #favourite saves them to your favourites.
Use alt text on images
Use #bookmark to save threads you want to follow
#CW subjects like politics, sports or common triggers
Replying to yourself creates a #thread
Hashtags are really important as they go across the networks (or 'instances') to connect you to others with the same interests
When using multi-word hashtags, capitalise the individual words to make it more accessible (screen-readers won't read them out otherwise)
In your preferences, enable 'advanced web interface' - it makes it look much clearer for you
I think that's it for now! Thanks for reading.
@lexicaleigh Camelback?
Yeah, but I'm worried that #LevelUpA5e and #levelupa5e aren't the same because the autocomplete only gives the inaccessible version.
So I suppose this post is me testing it.
@Homebrewandhacking Just tested both those links and they returned the same search results.
