On that last boost: not only is staying on Twitter "because your livelihood depends on it" kind of a short-term notion at this point, but it can poof in an instant. My studio account over there is still banned. Straight up. No explanation. I appealed the decision weeks ago. Nada. It's just gone. (no, I don't do adult games, I make bird skateboarding games heh)

I get that you need to keep posting stuff there right this second, that's fine, but HOLY CRAP do not keep relying on it moving forward. You need to be actively migrating away, rapidly, with all haste, to literally anywhere else, because that place is (already) toast.

"But where to migrate?"

- Here. The nerds and queer folk mostly went to Mastodon.
- Instagram. That's where the artists went. (bonus, might soon federate with here!)
- TikTok, that's where the kids, uh, already were if we're being honest.
- Reddit. The gamers have always been there. It was literally always a more important target than even Twitter for marketing. Yes, the numbers support that. Yes, it shocks me every time I look it up too.

(EDIT: Cohost is a nice place to kinda talk to small groups but is kinda anti-reach so that likely won't help you, and besides, Cohost is basically Tumblr, and Tumblr is talking Federation, so why not just- go back to Tumblr? That might actually be rad)

@glassbottommeg Reddit is kind of a tricky place because many subreddits (for good reason) prohibit self advertisement.

Any thoughts on how to approach Reddit in that regard?

@arestless Yes, treat it as a community. You need to actually contribute to a subreddit. Not just reply to other posts, make your own, that aren't self-promo.

You can just, share your gamedev goofs and dev videos and whatever you'd tweet on Twitter, but do it there instead, without it being weird cringe self-promo, and it'll be fine. That's what the mods are looking for.

Be a whole person there, not just someone who drive-by link drops.

(personally I found some other subreddits to contribute to)

@glassbottommeg @arestless

Hmm... IG there's definitely a lofty well-followed person talking to us plebiscites thing going on.

The rich AstroTurf of reddit does have plenty of people ready to go off about how no one argues here (LOL) and it's all left wing (fair).

So yeah, I guess there's community here and on Reddit.
