As you may have noticed, I've resurrected my Diaspora node at https://diaspora.mckinstry.ie/public/ .
For the moment its operating as a blog; i may fix federation, it depends on circumstances (amongst which, see www.antipope.org/charlie/blog...) but at least I can post longer-form content.

@clickhere Limping along. My current instance is not federated (so I don't have to worry about spam and nazi posts until I turn that back on). But it works nicely as a blog and, because you can keep posts "limited", a private diary and family photo exchange.
We'll see how federated SM evolves. Mastodon is good, but a "long-form" blog is needed.
@amckinstry Interesting! I must see if my old Diaspora account is still sitting somewhere. That was *years* ago, hardly used.
@amckinstry I'm starting to follow Mastodon accounts via RSS these days and only opening the app if I want to reply. Which would be the 'canonical' place to follow you, here or diaspora?
