No vested interests here eh Wes - just get on with it and when/if it becomes law get on and implement the will of your parliament.
I'm fascinated by the issue of #assisteddying in England and Wales: long article on the passage of the legislation to allow it, and NOT ONE WORD re: #Canada's experience. We've had Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) for some years now: roughly 1 in 20 chooses it at the end. No serious issues, no allegations of abuse. A humane, caring option for folks at the end. Virtually everyone knows someone who's chosen it.

Assisted Dying bill
It is a shame it comes down to ‘celebrities’ but Rantzen is correct. Will the disgrace of an upper house (the only one that mandates for representation of the ‘official’ state religion bar Iran in the world) screw this up. Probably

I believe that Canada has had its version of Assisted Dying (Medical Assistance in Dying) since 2016.
As of today the UK now has it, unless the House of Lords can do anything to overturn it I guess (?).
We've had friends who would have welcomed this as the pain they experienced was too much for them, they just wanted to pop off.

IMO it's good news today on assisted dying. Although there's more detail to work through, it seems unlikely that their noble Lordships will sink the Bill passed by the Commons.
AND there's palliative care to support and build up. This opinion piece in the FT is hopefully just the start of much more prominent campaigning.

Re: i) a silver lining is that after yesterday's abortion vote I'm less pessimistic about British politics actually revisiting imperfect legislation.
I'd thought a bad AD bill would be bad forever. I'm more hopeful this can be revisited in the 2040/50s now.
Re: Canada - people involved in AD are legally barred from discussing it, so it's extremely hard to verify horrible stories.
So take stories about MAD for disabilities with as much salt as you can carry.
Re: ii) the pro- side missed an open goal by not converting this into a government bill with funding for palliative care.
The focus on safeguards was also counterproductive and seriously damaged this bill's chances.
Those on the anti- side I respect have disappointed me as, frankly, the argument against is tabloid scaremongering about Canada*. I expected better.
As always the golden rule is - if the US Evangelicals are on your side reconsider your position.
Two days, two historic votes. England and Wales has passed assisted dying in the Commons.
Overall I'm happy but I would note that:
i) this is an extremely bad implementation of AD, completely ignoring the incurably suffering (the main point of AD imo) and saddling the terminally ill (side beneficiaries of AD imo) with a medically unsound six month terminally ill clause.
ii) the politics around this have been terrible.
