@federicomena it is quite surrising seeing #Google sponsoring #guadec2025
Is it used as a part of #ChromeOS ?
Veredito: funcionou MUITO bem.
Please, FOSS world, we need something like ChromeOS

The End of Windows 10 is looming. The world needs a simpler, easy, quick, snackable alternative

I will add endlessOS as Debian-based Windows alternative with the mobile UI feeling of ChromeOS
As far as I am concerned, I don't think that we should promote mobile UI on desktop. Go for Gnome, Cinnamon or KDE if it suits your need. SteamOS went with KDE, you can start there too.

Even though #ChromeOS is being devoured by Android, and $AAPL still anticompetitively hobbles #webkit, and #Firefox removed desktop PWAs, I still think the web is the future. The web is more capable than ever and everything that doesn't run on the web eventually will. It's just that this last mile of UI parity doesn't really matter. Typing URLs into a text box is fine. The web doesn't need to pretend to be something else!
Meanwhile, desktop Linux has a 20% market share here in Norway!

ICMYI: Google has said it is 'combining ChromeOS and Android into a single platform'.
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/07/is-chrome-os-merging-with-android?v1
@slightlyoff #ChromeOS was always proud of the 3S: Speed, Security and Simplicity. #Android kills all 3 in one go.
Android and ChromeOS could never be merged. It was always going to be both separately or one or the other.
Ironically, he will manage to kill it before Chrome is potentially forced to be sold.
Google is combining ChromeOS and Android into a single platform

Personally, I kind of hate this.
Google has announced that it's going to be combining ChromeOS (not the browser, but the OS for Chromebooks) and Android into a single platform.
Google exec: ‘We’re going to be combining ChromeOS and Android’
「 Sameer Samat, president of Google’s Android ecosystem, told TechRadar that “we’re going to be combining Chrome OS and Android into a single platform.” Samat, who’s responsible for Android’s implementation across mobile, wearables, XR, TV, and auto, added that he’s “interested in how people are using their laptops these days,” suggesting he may be adding a new string to his bow 」

Google finally realizes that having two separate operating systems might be... confusing? Revolutionary insight!
Now taking bets on how long before this unified platform gets the classic Google "sunset" treatment. At least Sameer Samat is "very interested" in laptop usage - better late than never!
