#CBG #CigarBoxGuitar

#ChickenboneJohn shows the basics for fitting a combined metal bridge, adjustable saddle and tailpiece to a cigar box guitar. In the comments he gives a link to his website for his own brand UK made metal bridge/tailpieces.

I have used one myself (so far) and they are great!!

Am really happy to advertise a fellow #Brummie in his business selling UK made kit.

#CigarBoxGuitar

In the spirit of #ThereAreNoRules with #CBG ... I converted the pale red six string guitar I was given for Christmas into something new to me.

I replaced the bottom three acoustic nylon strings with a set of top three nylon strings.

Then tuned them (open) as CDEGAC ... in other words as a pentatonic.

(Akin to taping off all the white notes on a piano)

Will it improve my guitar playing ... who knows ... probably not in the slightest :((

*cackles*

The deed is done.

Cannot vouch for the final sound as the lower edge of the bowl touches the top of my legs as I use it so might need to devise a stand/leg for it to rest on the floor without the bowl touching anything.

I can feel the back of the bowl vibrating when I pluck so it will definitely be making a contribution to the playing.

#CigarBoxGuitar ... see my profile.

This guitar's 3rd or so iteration now sees it emulating a tanboura (various spellings) ... the glorious Indian instrument that drones in mind boggling swirls and trills.

I removed the bridge so letting the strings "Sitar" "oiiiinggg" on the steel resonator cake stand plate.

The little white strings are needed for fine adjustment to get the "oiiiiiiinggg" going.

The bowl (from a charity shop) is for the next improvement.

Minor upgrade to the diddley bow. Chrome tin pierced fruit bowl put in place of the brassy swirley resonator.

The bridge is precisely 630 from the nut which left the previous marks for A#, C, D and G Octave correct.

Have also cleaned off some of the construction marks.

Will slowly fall into shape :))
